Any Survivors from Arkansas?

Ginny Monk, a reporter at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, is working on a story about sexual abuse of clients by therapists, and is interested in hearing from survivors. She does not need names or details (unless you want to share your story). She is primarily interested in getting comprehensive data for the state.

You can reach her by phone at 501-399-3633 or email at vmonk@arkansasonline.com.

Thanks!

  • She can probably get some data directly through the state regulatory agency, of course those are only the reported cases. In a different state, a news article cited (data obtained from state):

More than 8,300 practitioners fall under the description of licensed professional LPC in the state, according to information from DORA’s databases. Through the years, according to a hand-count of notations in DORA’s database, there were about 283 practitioners who have been the subject of board action, which varies from letters of admonition, stipulations, voluntary withdrawals and relinquishments, revocation, cessation of practice or indications of stipulations held in abeyance. Currently, another 12 show that a hearing has been set or charges have been filed with the board.
